Import Process
1
Select Import Method
Choose your import source from the available options. Each method has specific requirements and steps.
2
Prepare Your Data
Ensure your data is properly formatted:
- Dates in a consistent format (YYYY-MM-DD recommended)
- Altitude values in feet or meters (specify unit)
- Freefall time in seconds
- Consistent discipline names
Download our CSV template to see the recommended format and required fields.
3
Upload or Enter Data
Upload your file or enter data manually. The system will validate the format and show any errors.
4
Map Fields
Match your data columns to PilotFlows fields. The system suggests mappings automatically, but you can adjust them.
5
Review Import
Review the imported jumps before confirming:
- Check for duplicates
- Verify data accuracy
- Fix any errors or missing data
6
Confirm Import
Click Import to add the jumps to your logbook. You’ll see a confirmation with the number of jumps imported.
Data Mapping
When importing, you’ll need to map your data columns to PilotFlows fields:Required Fields
- Date – Jump date (required)
- Location – Dropzone or location (recommended)
Optional Fields

- Format Validation – Verifies data formats match expected types
- Missing Required Fields – Highlights missing required information

Handling Import Errors
If errors occur during import:Fix Errors Before Importing
Fix Errors Before Importing
Review error messages and fix issues in your source file, then re-upload. Common issues include:
- Invalid date formats
- Missing required fields
- Incorrect data types
Skip Problematic Rows
Skip Problematic Rows
You can choose to skip rows with errors and import the rest. Review skipped rows and add them manually later.
Import Partial Data
Import Partial Data
Import what you can, then add missing details by editing individual jumps after import.
Best Practices
1
Backup Your Data First
Always keep a backup of your original data before importing. This ensures you can recover if something goes wrong.
2
Start Small
Test the import process with a small sample of jumps first. Once you’re comfortable, import the rest.
3
Use the Template
Download and use the CSV template to ensure proper formatting. This reduces errors and makes mapping easier.
4
Review Before Confirming
Always review imported jumps carefully before confirming. It’s easier to fix issues before importing than after.
5
Add Details After Import
Import basic information first, then add detailed notes, gear information, and attachments by editing individual jumps.
