The Gear module helps you track and manage all skydiving equipment. Monitor parachute systems, containers, reserves, AADs, and other gear. Track inspections, maintenance, and assignments to ensure all equipment is safe and properly maintained.

Overview

The Gear module provides comprehensive equipment management for dropzones and skydiving organizations. Track all gear, monitor inspections, manage assignments, and ensure equipment safety and compliance.

Equipment Inventory

Complete inventory of all skydiving equipment including parachutes, containers, reserves, and AADs.

Inspection Tracking

Monitor inspection dates and requirements. Set reminders for upcoming inspections.

Gear Assignments

Assign gear to skydivers. Track who has what equipment and when it was assigned.

Maintenance Records

Track maintenance and repairs. Record service history for each piece of equipment.

Status Management

Track gear status: available, in use, maintenance, retired. Know what’s available for use.

Access Gear

Navigate to SkydivingGear from your dashboard sidebar.

View Gear Inventory

See all equipment in your inventory:
  • Equipment type and name
  • Current status
  • Inspection dates
  • Assigned to (if applicable)
  • Last maintenance

Add New Gear

Click Add Gear to register new equipment in your inventory.

Start Registration

Click Add Gear or Register Equipment.

Select Gear Type

Choose equipment type:
  • Parachute System - Complete rig (main + reserve + container)
  • Main Parachute - Main canopy only
  • Reserve Parachute - Reserve canopy
  • Container/Harness - Container and harness system
  • AAD - Automatic Activation Device
  • Other - Other equipment

Enter Equipment Details

Provide equipment information:
  • Name/Identifier - Equipment name or serial number
  • Manufacturer - Who made it
  • Model - Equipment model
  • Serial Number - Serial number
  • Purchase Date - When acquired
  • Purchase Price - Cost (optional)

Set Initial Status

Set equipment status:
  • Available - Ready for use
  • In Use - Currently assigned
  • Maintenance - In for service
  • Retired - No longer in service

Enter Inspection Information

Provide inspection details:
  • Last Inspection Date - When last inspected
  • Next Inspection Due - When next inspection required
  • Inspection Type - Type of inspection
  • Inspector - Who performed inspection
  • Inspection Certificate - Upload certificate

Save Equipment

Save the equipment. It’s now in your inventory and available for tracking.

Main canopies:
  • Canopy size
  • Canopy type (sport, performance, etc.)

Containers/Harnesses

Container systems:

AADs

Automatic Activation Devices:
  • AAD type (Cypres, Vigil, etc.)

View Inspection Status

See inspection status for all gear:
  • Current inspections
  • Upcoming inspections
  • Overdue inspections
  • Inspection history

Set Inspection Reminders

Configure reminders:
  • Days before inspection due
  • Notification method
  • Reminder frequency

Record Inspection

After inspection:
  1. Open gear item
  2. Click Record Inspection
  3. Enter inspection details
  4. Upload certificate
  5. Set next inspection date
  6. Save

Inspection Types

Different inspection types:
  • Annual Inspection - Yearly inspection
  • Repack - Parachute repack
  • Line Check - Line inspection
  • AAD Service - AAD maintenance
  • Other - Other inspection types
Never allow gear to be used past inspection expiration. Expired inspections mean equipment cannot be used.

Gear Assignments

Assigning Gear

Assign to Skydiver

Assign gear to skydiver:
  1. Open gear item
  2. Click Assign
  3. Select skydiver
  4. Verify inspection is current
  5. Set assignment date
  6. Save assignment

Verify Assignment

Before assignment, verify:
  • Gear inspection is current
  • Gear status is available
  • Skydiver is authorized
  • Gear is appropriate for skydiver

Managing Assignments

See all gear assignments:
  • What gear is assigned
  • Who has what gear
  • Assignment dates
  • Assignment history
Remove assignment:
  1. Open assignment
  2. Click Unassign
  3. Confirm unassignment
  4. Gear becomes available
Unassigning gear doesn’t affect gear records. It just makes the gear available for others.
Transfer gear between skydivers:
  1. Unassign from current skydiver
  2. Assign to new skydiver
  3. Update assignment records

Record Maintenance

After maintenance work:
  1. Open gear item
  2. Go to Maintenance tab
  3. Click Add Maintenance
  4. Enter details

Enter Maintenance Details

Provide information:
  • Date - When maintenance performed
  • Type - Type of maintenance
  • Description - What was done
  • Cost - Maintenance cost (optional)
  • Technician - Who performed work
  • Documents - Upload receipts/certificates

Update Status

Update gear status:
  • Available - Ready for use after maintenance
  • Maintenance - Still in service
  • Other - Other status as needed

  • Replacement - Component replacement
  • Inspection - Maintenance inspection

Find gear quickly:
  • By Type - Filter by equipment type
  • By Status - Show available, in use, etc.

  • By Assignment - Gear assigned to specific skydiver
  • By Name/Serial - Search by identifier

Advanced Filters

Use filters for specific views:
  • Inspection Due - Gear needing inspection
  • Overdue Inspections - Past inspection date
  • Assigned Gear - Currently assigned equipment
  • Available Gear - Ready for assignment
  • Maintenance Status - Gear in maintenance
